On 24 February 1903, James Robertson & Sons Preserve Manufacturers Ltd convened its first board meeting. By this stage, the business had been running for 40 years and was one of the world's most recognised food manufacturers.

Much of the business of the first board meeting revolved around the disbursement of shares, the eppointment of a company secretary, bankers and accountants.
